River Plantation
As today's weddings have become more elaborate, weekend-long events, the number pf printed pieces included with the traditional wedding invitation has multiplied. Savvy couples are looking for more original ways to hold all of those pieces together, and of course we are always happy to create something new! For Meagan and James of Bethesda, Maryland we designed this traditional 5x7 flat card that doubles as a little valise. The front of the hand-cut navy blue card is matted with a silky white printed layer, and the couple's names become the graphic element in orchid pink and a modern script. When the card is turned over the invitee finds a cute little self pocket, in which are tucked a response card and envelope as well as directions to both the ceremony and reception on Maryland's eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. We wrapped the card in a translucent vellum printed with swirls of champagne bubbles, giving the ensemble a festive yet elegant look. The large-type orchid script paired with navy block text is carried through to all of the other printed pieces, including tented menu cards, place cards, programs and table names. Everyhting is printed on the same silky white stock, and although there is no "theme" to speak of, this text placement creates a very visual and specific unifying feature to the whole suite.
