St.Thomas
This nature-loving couple planned a weekend of fun in the sun for their wedding party and guests, on the shores of Deep Creek Lake in the Appalachian mountains of western Maryland. They asked us to design a save-the-date package using very natural materials and nature-inspired colors, that would also accomodate the boatloads of information they had compiled about activities, accomodations, travel tips and more. We came up with this elegant yet organic ensemble that reflects their tastes in every way. The eight (!!) pages of text, maps, photos and graphics were compiled and printed in chcolate ink onto a stack of four 5x7 cards, cut from recycled cardstock in sky blue, grass green, sandy cream and rocky taupe. The four cards were tied together with raffia, a twine-like ribbon made from the leaves of the African raffia palm. The little packet was laid on a bed of real shredded aspen wood, and tucked into a mailable box covered in plain brown kraft paper. A sand colored sash wrapped the box shut tight for shipping, and a sage oval label was hand addressed by us here in the studio. Because the box was slightly heavier than a traditional wedding invitation, the couple did not have the choice of cute little love-themed postage stamps to adorn the box. Not to worry: we designed and procured custom photo stamps to match the interior grpahics at no extra charge, and the cute little boxes were complete!
(paper: speckled taupe, speckled sand, bluebell, sage, soft white. box: brown kraft. ribbon: raffia twine in oatmeal. fonts: Papyrus and Corinthia.)
