When Neil and Fleur of New York City were engaged, they called us to design the perfect wedding invitation for their wedding in the Hamptons. Fleur is Dutch, her family from the land of tulips and windmills. Her name is French for "flower", and Neil thinks that's pretty hot. And speaking of hot, their wedding planner had encouraged them to choose lime and tangerine as their wedding colors. Needless to say, they were having trouble incorporating their almost-flourescent color scheme into an invitation classy enough for their wedding in this tony enclave of the rich and fabulous!
We designed this modern, clean, and sophisticated invitation ensemble using silky white paper and layers of brightly colored, translucent paper. We cut each petal and stem by hand, then layered them to create these dimensional tulips in lime and tangerine. The response cards and directions were embellished with blades of windswept grass, and all of the text was printed in citrus colored inks. The stationery wardrobe also included personalized social stationery; programs, menus, table numbers and place cards; and custom gift bags for guests to receive in their hotel rooms. All in their signature colors of lime and tangerine, grounded on cool, soothing white, and embellished with the tulip that reminds Neil of his beautiful bride! We did their wedding planner proud, and even got invited to the wedding! |
