| Jill's parents went to Hawaii when they were still expecting her, and brought home an adorable little Hawaiian print dress for the daughter they knew they were having. It fit her right around her first birthday, and was so cute that it inspired them to throw a luau-themed party for her big day. We designed this invitation for them, a colorful, festive card complete with a paper lei. The large, 6-inch square invitation is built upon a layer of papaya colored cardstock, and a piece of Hawaiian printed paper in sea blue and white is matted on top of it. A fly-away layer of white vellum is tied to the card with sheer papaya ribbon, strung with four plumeria blossoms cut from papaya and strawberry cardstock. The invitation text is printed on the vellum layer, allowing the blue print to show through while still maintaining the readability of the text. The card was presented in a strawberry colored envelope to round out the tropical theme. (paper: papaya, strawberry, blue Hawaiian, white vellum. ribbon: orange sheer. Font: Century Gothic.) |
